Employment Petitions

This type of visa will allow you to obtain the Green Card for you, your spouse and your unmarried children under 21 years old.

For people who do not have qualifying relatives to petition them for the Green Card, they can use the employment route. This allows them to get the Green Card based upon work positions offered with a company. The normal route is to first get an approved Labor Certification. Afterwards, the employment petition or (I-140) is filed with the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Thereafter, the final application can be filed to get the Green Card.

Many times it actually takes much less time to get the Green Card based upon an employment petition, rather than certain family type petitions. If you have two years of prior experience, you should consider taking this path to the Green Card.
