Attorney Christopher A. Reed joined the Law Offices of Brian D. Lerner, APC as an associate attorney in 2005. Since that time, he has successfully represented individuals in deportation and removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Reed also has extensive experience in family-based and employment-based immigration, representing Clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service and U.S. Embassies and Consulates.

Mr. Reed is licensed to practice law before the Supreme Court of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S District Court for the Southern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Reed is a member of the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Mr. Reed earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California Irvine in 2001 and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 2004. Mr. Reed is fluent in Spanish.

Mr. Reed has extensive experience representing persons in Removal Proceedings. In fact, he has had numerous trials regarding asylum, withholding of removal and convention against torture. This ranges from people around the world to as close as Mexico. Attorney Reed has handled Asylum cases based on political, religious, social and other grounds of eligibility. Additionally, Mr. Reed has had successful trials on other matters such as Cancellation of Removal for Lawful Permanent Residents and Cancellation of Removal for Nonpermanent Residents. He has successfully won cases for Prosecutorial Discretion to terminate proceedings. In addition, Attorney Reed has had multiple trials for adjustment of status whether it is a spouse or family member.

Both in Court and at the Consulates, Attorney Reed has successfully won many different kinds of Waivers from the Waiver of the 3/10 year bar to criminal waivers to fraud waivers as well as other types of waivers. He has travelled all across California and the U.S. to represent clients in Court, Adjustment of Status proceedings. Naturalization proceedings. He has also represented clients in Immigration Court for VAWA Cancellation or Battered Spouse Cancellation applications as well as at the Vermont Service Center for direct VAWA applications.

Mr. Reed meets clients at detention facilities and at other locations to help prepare the case. He has done numerous Infopass appointments to do formal inquiries on a variety of different cases. Mr. Reed knows the ins and outs of representing persons in Removal Proceedings and all the various types of hearings, including, but not limited to various deferred inspection interviews with ICE.

Additionally, when there is a criminal basis for inadmissibility, Mr. Reed has successfully argued and won criminal relief in a variety of different Criminal Courts for vacating or reducing criminal judgements based on various theories including Corum Nobis, violation of due process and other theories so that the client is no longer inadmissible and eligible for legal status or for an immigration waiver. In fact, many times Mr. Reed will have to represent a client in Removal Proceedings on various theories while pursuing criminal relief on another and simultaneous avenue. He knows the most effective and best ways to try to win an immigration case.

In addition to representation, Mr. Reed has prepared numerous opening briefs, response briefs and cases to various Circuit Courts of Appeal across the United Stated on wide and various issues. Of course, Mr. Reed has also had numerous legal briefs prepared for appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Administrative Appeals Unit. He has done Motions to Reopen, Motions to Reconsider, Telephonic Motions to Terminate, Bond Motions and a wide variety of other types of immigration related motions.
